Every company has a story. The story is a part of the fabric that binds a business together and reverence of the lineage helps to keep a company true to its principal values. Perhaps like the most successful companies, we will author a pathway, that sometimes sails perilously close to the edges of complete disaster, towards what we hope to be an amazing success. Triumph or failure, you’re now a part of our history. We can’t wait to see you on this journey with us.
Humble Beginnings
Two old friends, both former U.S. Army helicopter pilots, met each other what seems like forever ago. Physical differences notwithstanding, there was a shared passion that was evident from the first meeting. A reverence for kinship, military traditions, family values, the great state of Louisiana, and possibly most prominently entrepreneurship. They cherished the healthy pursuit of the American dream. The thrill of success, the tangible risk of failure, the passion for sharing new ideas; all parts of creating a business, good or bad, were of interest to them.
Over the next decade of friendship (really, more like family-ship), they would create literally hundreds of business ideas. They would dabble in many business ventures, mostly separately, until the right concept finally materialized. The time was finally right for a joint business venture. They wanted to produce a product that could represent their appreciation of precision craftsmanship and attention to detail, while still community based and welcoming to all. The business of distilled spirits was on the horizon. In a throwback to their military lineage, a name was chosen that would honor the military unit where they first met. An idea became a vision, and a vision a plan; Tomahawk Spirits was born.
A Spirit Is Born
With a business idea selected, it was time to decide which distilled spirit would be the first to roll off of the assembly line. There are as many distilled spirits as there are distilling companies, each one with its own character and flavor. A difficult decision was ahead and one that provoked the first intercompany ‘disagreement’, or at least that’s what we’ll call it for today. At a family party during the early Spring, friends were laughing and a few cocktails were being poured and distributed as is customary at these types of events in the South. Almost like divine intervention, the de facto family bartender ran out of Vodka right in the middle of our conversation about our difficulty in selecting our launch spirit. That was it. Just like that new spirit was born. Her name was Vodka.
Notepads, napkins, and scratchpads came out. The research began. Questions existed; how to make a great Vodka? How to recover after drinking too much Vodka? Who drinks Vodka. Important questions to be answered and it was all on the table. Tomahawk Spirits needed a product that anyone with a military lineage would be proud of, but accepting enough to be enjoyed by the most casual drinker. A Vodka made to the highest standard and kept to a reasonable price. A Vodka that was both worthy and affordable enough to be a fundamental part of community gatherings. A Vodka that would represent our warrior spirit and relentless pursuit of the American dream. Our Vodka had a face. Then a name. Zulu Vodka was introduced to the world.
A History That Continues to Grow.
Zulu went from being our first child, to our first Vodka, to our first brand with a plan underway to continue the Zulu line with future offerings of a tropical Gin, a true American Whiskey, and a Spiced Rum that rivals the best Caribbean exports. With Zulu development well underway, we continue to search for new and exciting opportunities to provide quality, innovate products in the distilled spirit market. We are glad that you’re a part of our exciting story. We hope to keep providing you with quality products that you can be proud to share at your next party, corporate event, or to sip quietly along the Emerald Coast beaches while spending quality time with your loved ones and listening to your favorite Buffet tunes. We thank you for your patronage and interest.
Love and Peace,
-Team Tomahawk™.
“Be great, lest you be nothing.”
