LEESVILLE: OUR HOME

Leesville.  Our great home.  An often overlooked, sometimes entirely forgotten sleepy city in the central band of Louisiana.  Ask anyone of their experiences of Louisiana and, even if they’ve never set foot in the state, you’ll be overwhelmed with treasured tales of the unique Cajun cultures, rich culinary traditions, and a passion for life and partying paying particular attention to the ‘friendly people of the Bayou’, New Orleans, and Mardi Gras.

As great as those things may be, Louisiana is a great state, a fairly large state, and one of the few that can boast of having more than one ‘cultural identity’ within the state.  The gator eating, Cajun talking, bayou running ways are certainly accurate when describing parts of Southeastern Louisiana, especially south of the I-10 freeway, where the ‘true blood’ Cajuns are thought to live.  But there is so much more culture to our state than just what you can find in the bay area of New Orleans.

Take a journey Northwest to the city of Shreveport where a more catfish frying, steak eating, barbeque loving culture becomes more apparent.  Maybe ride over East towards the town of Monroe where you’ll find dense woodlands, backwoods trails, and a true hunter’s paradise, made even more famous by the Duck Dynasty clan whose show revolves around the families antics in Monroe.  If you make your way to our part of the state, you’ll find a delicate blend of each of Louisiana’s cultural identities as well as a liberal dash of our own style and flair.

Our way of life is simple bordering on crazy and is heavily influenced by our military neighbor Fort Polk, home of the 10th Mountain Division, as well as our close neighbors in East Texas.  We grill *and* we have crawfish boils.  We celebrate our proud Mardi Gras traditions *and* guard family values in the process.
